ALISA MAGALLÓN is a farm girl turned award winning operatic soprano and nationally recognized arts administrator. She is passionate about cultivating social and emotional learning in children and adults through the power of the arts and has led several successful education programs for prominent opera companies in the United States. Inspired by great music and emotional courage, she is a constantly evolving artist centering her creative energy in alignment with her personal values: authenticity, optimism, unconditional love, and family.Alisa obtained a BA in Music at Luther College and an MM in Vocal Performance at the Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University. She has sung with Chicago Opera Theater, Houston Grand Opera, and Minnesota Opera and her concert & recital work has taken her from the Midwest to Mexico.In 2017 she was invited by Opera America to join the Leadership Intensive cohort and is currently a member of Opera America's Teaching Artist task force, co-chair for Arts Connect Houston Equity and Justice initiative, and is the Associate Director of Programming and Engagement at Houston Grand Opera.As a life long learner, she is always open to new collaborations and opportunities to exchange ideas.
